St Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square, French Quarter
Street performers in Jackson Square.
This homeless man was dancing away without a care in the world. Love the beads he is wearing.
(These are a big part of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. I saw them everywhere - even hanging in the trees)
I also love the irony of the street sign behind the tuba.
The architecture in the French Quarter is so gorgeous & colourful.
No trip to New Orleans is complete until you visit Cafe Du Monde.
Est. 1862 and well known for its Cafe' Au Last & Beignets (french donut) - A very popular destination for tourists.
The Mississippi River

Gorgeous shop fronts in the French Quarter

Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 in the Garden District
Founded in 1833, it is still in use today with many tombs & mausoleums often containing multiple family members.
Also a popular film set location - Double Jeopardy was filmed here in 1999.
I had heard of The Spotted Cat Music Club before my trip, but when the locals start recommending it I knew I was in for a treat!
This place & the musicians did not disappoint - this was the kind of jazz I had been wanting to hear.
Next up was The Preservation Hall Jazz show - a musical venue in the French Quarter founded in 1961 to protect Traditional New Orleans Jazz.
Absolutely amazing, such talented musicians - Highly recommend both places if you are visiting New Orleans
This was my last day of adventure in New Orleans before flying back home to New Zealand
Time to head out of the city & head for the swamps
Above: driving over the canals & Lake Pontchartrain
Below: Cajun Encounters Swamp Tour - so much fun.
Above: Family of wild Racoons - what cuties.
Below: The Crocs - at one point we had 7 around the boat, such inquisitive creatures, then again we had food!

The beauty of the swamp land.
